MATHEMATICAL MODELLING AND COMPUTATIONAL METHODS IN APPLIED SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING
4-8 July 2005 Pilsen, Czech Republic
Organized by In cooperation with Honorary Chairman of the
Conference Chairman of the
Conference International Programme Committee
Organizing Committee
S. Mika (chairman), M. Brandner, J. Holenda, M. Mikova, P. Prikryl
Introduction
The
conference will be organized on similar lines as the preceding two
successful events (Prague 1998, Pilsen 2001). Those interested may want to
go through the web pages of
Modelling 2001
through a link here.
The purpose of the Conference is to
stimulate research and, in an informal setting, to foster the interaction
of researchers in different fields of science. We hope the event will give
a possibility to exchange ideas and information on models and methods
originating in various applications.
History of the
MODELLING conferences
The first International Conference on
Mathematical Modelling and Computational Methods - MODELLING '94 was
organized in Prague on the occasion of Profs Owe Axelsson's and Milos
Zlamal's life jubilees in 1994. The next conference was organized as the
first IMACS Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Computational Methods
in Mechanics and Geodynamics - MODELLING '98 in 1998 (Prague). The last
conference in the series, Second IMACS Conference on Mathematical
Modelling and Computational Methods - MODELLING 2001 - took place in
Pilsen. MODELLING 2005 wants to continue the series.
Conference Venue
The conference is to be held
at the campus of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Pilsen is an
old, now industrial city, the capital of West Bohemia. The central part of
Pilsen was founded in 1295. Information about University of West Bohemia
in Pilsen may be found at
A minisymposium on formulation, approximation, and solution of
models leading to variational inequalities will be organized by Z. Dostal (Technical University
Ostrava, Czech Republic) and J. Haslinger (Charles
University in Prague, Czech Republic). Contributions regarding various
applications are also welcome, especially in biomechanics and
engineering, including the contact shape optimization.
A minisymposium on the design, analysis and application of
hierarchic higher-order finite element methods will be organized by P. Solin (University of Texas at El
Paso, USA) and K. Segeth
(Mathematical Institute, Academy od Sciences of the Czech Republic,
Prague). Welcome are contributions related to optimization of
higher-order hierarchic shape functions, conditioning studies, error
estimates, hp-adaptivity, and other aspects of hp-FEM and its
applications.
Those willing to organize additional minisymposia are asked to contact
the Organizing
Committee as soon as possible. The minimum number of participants
should be about five.
List of Invited Speakers Call for
Papers and
Pre-Registration
The Modelling 2005 Programme will include
plenary lectures, short communications, minisymposia and poster sessions.
Papers presented at the conference will be published in Proceedings. The
peer-reviewed Proceedings of the Conference are planned to appear as a
special issue of the IMACS journal Mathematics and Computers in
Simulation.
Those intending to participate or wishing to obtain
further information are requested to complete the Preliminary Registration
Form
You must have JavaScript enabled in your browser to pre-register.
If the button does not work, here's
how to check.
You should also disable your pop-up blocker if you have any.
Papers are invited on the topics
outlined and others falling within the scope of the Conference. Those
intending to present a paper should indicate this in the Preliminary
Registration Form or in their e-mail.
The pre-registration does not
bind you to attend. Its primary purpose is to build a mailing list
containing possible participants of the Conference. The instruction for
the final registration will be given to those that would have
pre-registered in the Second Announcement. The preliminary estimate of the
conference fee (not including accommodation) is EUR 400.
A limited number of reduced registration fees will be
possible, in particular for student participants and IMACS members.
Second Announcement
The Second Announcement
containing more details on the conference programme, and information on
submission of contributed presentations, minisymposia, registration and
conference fee, accommodation, social and tourist programme, as well as
the travel information, will be distributed in April 2005 and will be
found at this website as well.
